Debra Brown Ohio, Indiana

Debra Denise Brown is a serial killer in the United States. She was active from 1984 until she was caught . She currently have 8 proven  victims, though she is only suspected of 8 . According to Wikipedia, she is the accomplice of Alton Coleman .

This happened primarily in Indiana Ohio. He was sentenced to Sentenced to death, commuted to life imprisonment .

His appeal includes: Debra Denise Brown and her companion, one Alton Coleman, were convicted and sentenced to death in separate proceedings for stomping a seven-year old girl to death and attempting to choke a nine-year old girl to death with a belt after sexually assaulting the latter.   These crimes were part of a crime spree which also took Brown and Coleman to Ohio, Michigan and Illinois.   About a month after the Indiana crimes were committed, Brown was apprehended in Illinois and turned over to the FBI, which had been actively engaged in the investigation.

Her victims include Annie Turks, Tamika Turks, Donna Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Jones (robbed), Virginia and Rachelle Temple, Frank and Dorothy Duvendack (robbed),  and Tonnie Storey, Harry and Marlene Walters, Oline Carmical, Jr, Reverend and Mrs. Millard Gay and Eugene Scott.

I've had mixed feelings about Ms. Brown considering Alton was the primary assailant, however seeing the sheer volume of victims, I am happy she remains behind bars based on principal.

Howard Allen Indiana

Status: Incarcerated

Howard Allen is a serial killer in the United States. He was active from 1974–1987 . He currently has 3 known victims, though they are only suspected of 3 . According to Wikipedia,  his Death Sentence was Commuted .

This happened primarily in Indiana. He was incarcerated for 60 years .

His appeal includes:     Allen first contends that his conviction and sentence must be vacated because a juror failed to reveal her criminal record when asked to do so on juror questionnaires. Specifically, a routine questionnaire asked potential jurors if they had "ever been accused of a crime." One woman, who was eventually seated as a juror at Allen's 1988 trial, responded to this question with a simple "no." On the day jury selection began, she completed another questionnaire in which she certified that she had never appeared in court. Despite these answers, the post-conviction record shows that the juror had had several brushes with the law, including: (1) a May, 1982, arrest for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol; (2) a September, 1976, arrest for public intoxication; and (3) a January, 1961, arrest for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, of which she was found guilty. We have held that juror misconduct See footnote will warrant a new trial only when the misconduct is both "gross" and "harmed the defendant." Lopez v. State,  (Ind. 1988). See also Hoskins v. State, 737 N.E.2d 383, 385 (Ind. 2000) ("To warrant a new trial upon a claim of juror misconduct, the defendant must show that the misconduct was gross and probably harmed the defendant."). The post-conviction court determined that Allen was not harmed by the juror's conduct.

Darren Deon Vann Indiana

Status: Incarcerated

Darren Deon Vann is a serial killer in the United States. He was active from 2013–2014 . He currently has 7 victims, though he is suspected of 7+ . According to Wikipedia, he is the Indiana murderer who killed seven women; five of which were found in abandoned structures in the city of Gary .

This happened primarily in Indiana. He was sentenced to Sentenced to life imprisonment .

He plead guilty and has not appealed.

William Clyde Gibson Indiana

William Clyde Gibson is a serial killer in the United States. He was active from 2002–2012 . He currently has 3 victims, though he is suspected of 3+ .

His appeal includes:

On October 10, 2002,Hodella metGibson at a bar located in Jeffersonville, Indiana.  Hodella left the bar with Gibson, and thetwo went to various other bars, drank alcohol, and stayed together that night.  At some point,Gibson and Hodella were in a vehicle parked in an apartment complex parking lot in New Albany, Indiana. The two began to argue when Hodella accused Gibson of stealing some of her prescription medication. During the argument, Gibson hit Hodella in the face.  A struggle ensued, and Gibson took out his pocket knife and stabbed Hodella in the throat multiple times. Gibsonthendrove around before disposing of Hodella’s body. Hodella’s body was found on January 7, 2003; however, hercase remained unsolved until April 2012.

Gibson met Stephanie Kirk on March 24, 2012. The next day, he sexually assaulted, strangled, and ultimately killed her.  Hethen buried her body in his backyard.  On April 18, 2012, Gibson attacked and sexually assaulted, strangled, and eventually killed seventy-five-year-old Christine Whitis, his late mother’s best friend.  On April 19, 2012, Whitis’s mutilated body was found in Gibson’s garage by his sisters. In the hours after Whitis’s body was discovered, police apprehended a drunk Gibson, who was driving Whitis’s vehicle.
